Shiera O’Brien, Zenith Training and Development

Shiera O’Brien runs her own training company, Zenith Training and Development. Her vision is to help companies enjoy business more through a combination of training sessions that get people thinking differently about how they do what they do. “If it’s not working, why are you still doing it?” she asks.

Through higher levels of awareness, behaviour change and new skills, much can improve in your life or business. Shiera has a passion for seeing people grow and change through working with her. She has been training and coaching people from all walks of life for over 8 years, in selling, presenting, communicating and thinking from a fresh point of view.

She is a linguist by profession and more recently a Master NLP practitioner and Coach. She has studied and read widely on NLP and psychology, learning about these tools and how can transform businesses and individuals and help them create and achieve on another level.

Because I am a Girl I ask… myself how I can be the best example to any young girl I meet; how I can show them to enjoy all that they are, as they are; to give everything their best shot, to enjoy their lives, to find their passion and to play their most melodious song called life?

Because I am a Girl I believe… that all the troubles and pain in the world come from people not knowing what real love is, or not loving themselves and expecting that something outside themselves can fill an inner void. Life can be simple and sweet if we let go and stay in gratitude for what we have and are.

Because I am a Girl I hope… there will come a day when young girls everywhere will honour and value themselves and all they bring to the world  - the power to give life, the power to build relationships, bring reason and compassion to difficult situations. Above all, I hope that the men and women will reach across the gender divide and see that we need each other.

Because I am a Girl I wonder… why, as a human race, we have forgotten that without our mothers, grandmothers and generations of women before us, we would not be here; and that all the young girls in the world born this minute are those future mothers, grandmothers, creators and educators of future fathers and sons.

Because I am a Girl I dream… of a world where we all value every human being for their gifts, their contribution and their possibilities, where men and women see the extraordinary beauty and untapped potential that lies within every individual; where we no longer see gender as the difference, but value the difference that we create together on this extraordinary journey called life.

Because I am a Girl I remember… what a blessing it has been to enjoy a wonderful upbringing, education and the opportunities presented to me in my life; where I learned early to enjoy the value men and women bring to the world in their own unique ways.

Because I am a Girl I like… the contrast that men bring to the world, how they show me a different way of viewing things, how much fun they are and how they have helped me grow and learn through their eyes.

Because I am a Girl I dislike… war declarations in the name of nations and phoney ideologies that serve only to destroy life, visit misery on innocent people and strip away the dignity and livelihoods of men, women and children around the world.

Because I am a Girl I feel… that we are close to a turning point in our  human history, where we will seek a different path - a path with heart and compassion, where we will seek the wealth within ourselves and foster that in and for every child.

Because I am a Girl I… take care of my life and treat it like a priceless jewel, because I know it is one of a kind. What more could I ask for?

to you to be a girl

  • Because I am a Girl...

I have a much higher chance of making headline news - as a victim of rape, assault or murder. But because I am a girl I have the innate strength to carry on challenging the threats to my freedom.

  • Because I am a Girl...

I rise to the challenge, and do the unexpected. I raise my voice so that I can always be heard. I push myself even when the little voices in my head are saying, sure you dont belong here, who do you think you are. I struggle on and dont alllow society to to label or box me because of the sex I am, the colour of my skin, my sexuality, my spiritual beliefs. I am, and I will.
